FujiFilm vs Polaroid

FujiFilm vs Polaroid

We all know it's Polaroid co. which had dominated the Instant camera market. They never shared the technology or let their patent go free. So in the history of Instant cameras there's only 3 companies made Instant cameras. Polaroid, Kodak and FujiFilm. Kodak never able to get it far from first phrase.  in 80s there was huge fight between Polaroid and Kodak about instant camera rights since Kodak had started making their own instant cameras. They whole thing ended Kodak had to recall cameras and shut down instant camera production. Nobody else bothered about making instant cameras after that apart from Polaroid co.

In early 90s FujiFilm has been given the rights to product Instant cameras buy Polaroid Co. But they were not allowed to sell cameras in western Europe or North America. Polaroid Re-Branded Fuji Instant camera called Instax 7s as Polaroid 300 and sold in American and European markets along with their old Analog instant camera models like Type 600 cameras, SX-70 series and Spectra series. Trend for Analog cameras has started dying since begin of new millennium and in 2008 Polaroid shut down their whole Analog instant camera production along with Instant film production for all analog instant camera. They moved to their next item which was Digital Instant cameras. Their new PoGo zink photo paper technology was great but these new digital instant cameras are not so great. At least those early models. They seems don't care much about the quality since there are no competitors. Polaroid Co. never was the company it had been in 60s and 70's. They filed bankruptcy twice withing 10 years (2001 and 2009).

FujiFilm started making Instant Cameras in early 90s and their first instant camera was Instax 210. This was the best camera in it's time but never received much popularity since it didn't reach the Western Market on right time. So this great instant camera stayed hidden nearly a decade. Also FujiFilm came up first high quality photo paper for Instant cameras. Their Instax Film is 100% better quality than old Polaroid instant Film. Their Instax Mini series have been a great hit every since they released the Mini 7s camera. Ever since European and American markets have been opened for them, Instax series become the most popular Instant camera series because of cheaper price of camera and cheap Film. Also quality of photo.

Their latest addition to Instax camera series is FujiFilm Instax Mini 90 NEO Classic camera. It hasn't released for market yet and will be released for shops in Japan in September and will be available in USA and other western countries by March 2014. This camera is not a simple Instant camera but with lots of features and manual controls. Also it will be expensive than rest of the Instax models. Price will be around $200. Still it's an analog instant camera but many believe it will be even better than those Polaroid Digital Instant cameras since it can take quality photos and have many more features like Double Exposure, Kids mode for moving objects, Multiple exposures, Shutter speeds up to 1/400 per second etc. This camera might change the bad reputation instant cameras have for bad quality photos and lack of control.
