If you look at ebay you can find old Polaroid instant cameras for less than $20. So You might imagine why should by a new Instant camera when you can find plenty of cheaper options. Even from yard sales you can buy a Polaroid camera $5. I have seen so many people ask question at Yahoo Answers about these Polaroid cameras bought from ebay or yard sales. Common questions are,

Most questions are like these or related to these. The main problem is Polaroid do not make those old analog Instant cameras like Polaroid 600, Polaroid SX-70 or Polaroid Spectra. They DO NOT make Film for these cameras either. But only for these 3 models you can buy Alternative film made by Impossible Project Co. Cost per shot is around $3. Yes That's it no cheaper film than that. And for any other model you won't film film at all with exception of Polaroid 300 camera.

There aren't places where they repair Polaroid Cameras. Those 1 - 2 places out there who do repair wont do much good because would you spend $100+ for repairing a $5 Polaroid camera ? You can buy another used one for $20 from E-bay. Repairing old Polaroid cameras is totally a waste of money.

If you bought an old used Polaroid camera and if it's not working then that's the end of it. Remember Batteries comes with Film pack so it's not the fault of batteries. Most probably camera is long dead. You can use new Film pack and test the camera but u will be risking the film pack which worth $25 at least.

The cheapest Instant camera in market today (practical one) is FujiFilm Instax Mini 8 camera. You can buy this camera from Amazon for $65 with free shipping. Film cost is less than $0.70 per shot. Photo quality is great too. None of other instant cameras are this cheap good quality wise.

There are new Polaroid Digital Instant cameras but those are expensive. Prices starting from $200 to up. One advatange of Digital instant cameras is you can save photos into memory card and move to a computer. So if you want that feature then better go for a digital instant camera.

If not then the best instant camera you can buy in todays market is FujiFilm Instax Mini 8 camera and Instax Mini Film. You get a cheap instant camera and low priced instant film. And both photo quality and photo paper quality is good too. FujiFilm does a better job that Polaroid when it comes to quality.

But there are some Instant photo fans who dislike the small mini film format. If you are one of them then you should consider about the Fujifilm Instax 210 camera. It's bit longer model but photo quality is great and also Instax Wide film which it use available both in online shops and in camera stores.

You can buy it for only $55 -$65 from Amazon with free shipping and photo paper price is nearly same as Mini film. Only down size is camera it big not one you can keep inside your hang bag.
