Polaroid Automatic 230 Land Camera |
For some reason people still ask questions like is it worth buying an old Polaroid camera. After 2008 when Polaroid closed production of analog instant cameras and film there was a big panic among Polaroid camera users about film and also about cameras. But Instant camera industry has passed than stage years ago. You no longer need to bother about it. There are plenty of new instant cameras in market.
Even thought Polaroid no longer make analog instant cameras they do make instant digital cameras such as Polaroid Z340, Polaroid Snap, Polaroid Socialmatic etc. These cameras use new Polaroid Zink Media Photo paper which is so much better than old instant film like Polaroid 600 Film, Type SX-70 film etc. Lot cheaper too.
If you are looking for a cheap Polaroid camera to buy then might thinking about an old Polaroid camera like 600 series, SX-70 series, Spectra series etc but its really hard to find vintage cam which is in working condition. Even if you find one then it will be next to impossible get it working without film packs. Impossible Project Co. do make three 5 types of film and apart from that you might not get a chance to test your Polaroid cam.
Impossible Project film cost you around 3 bucks per print. Well it's better than having no film at all but not so good if you try to use your camera daily. But Fujifilm Instax series instant film cameras might be better choice for that. Cams like Instax Mini 90, Instax Mini 70, Instax 300 are very good and durable. Instax Film packs are available everywhere and cheap too.
So if you are looking for a good Polaroid camera for just daily use then those old cameras are not for you. Go for a digital instant camera or one of these Fujifilm Instax cameras. If you are looking for instant photo camera for an event like wedding then get a Polaroid Z340. This is the best perfect one for something like that since it let you check images before print those.
But there are plenty of people who love vintage cameras like these old Polaroid instant cam models. For a collector these cams worth more than any new camera. Because these become old and rare. Harder and harder to find. Polaroid had sold over 1.5 Million cameras of their first commercial model, Polaroid Highlander 95 since 1948-1957. But how many of these do you see in market today for sale ?
